# Leveraging Subject States for Improved Visit Compliance

## Overview

We’re excited to announce the latest improvement to managing subjects - **gating options for configurable subject states**. This addition activates specific rule sets to keep your subject compliant with visit workflows. Here’s what you need to know:

#### Purpose and functionality

**Gating options tied to subject states** serve multiple purposes, such as ensuring that subjects who have completed the study no longer have open visits. Visits can be automatically disabled until the subject reaches a certain state. These states act as gates between visit segments, helping to control protocol compliance effectively.

#### Configurable Gates

Subject states can be configured as gates for visit phases. If a subject reaches a gated state, all visits within that phase become available and are displayed in the **Uploader Work List**.

> **Unscheduled Visits** can only be created if the subject has reached the respective phase.

## Conditions necessary for observing this feature

This feature is available without any specific criteria. Simply log into your **Clario Global Account**, navigate to your study, and select the subject you want to focus on. You can view the subject state and their dates under **View More** on the subject-specific page.
