# Flexible user authentication

## Overview

This release includes optimizations to user and device authentication. Have a smart device without an internet browser or without an easy way to enter text? Don't fret! You can still successfully authenticate your device.

## Conditions necessary for observing this feature

Your device will display a **Device Code** and a **URL**. You will visit the **URL**. Sign in, which is also known as "authenticating". And then you will enter the given **Device Code**. From then on, that particular device is available to be used in conjunction with your Clario-specific clinical trial activities. Sound familiar? Of course it is! This is exactly what you do when authenticating an App to run on Apple TV or other smart TVs.
